Spring Term 1 2015
Key Stage 2 Art Work
Across Key Stage 2, we have been learning about the impact which Mandela had and we have studied South African artwork. The children have greatly enjoyed using a variety of different artistic medias to explore South African art and artists as you can see in their masterpieces which are quite breathtaking!
Year 3 wrote and then shared their own books with the Reception children.
Y5 get ready for Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year falls in the school holiday so Y5 got ready early. Year 5 enjoyed learning to use chopsticks, finding their Chinese zodiac sign and learning about school in China.
Year 2 Pioneers make butter!!
As part of this term's topic on The Wild West, the Year 2's have been learning how to make butter, just like the Pioneers! It took a lot of shaking, but eventually they all had their butter and butter milk to take home.
Netball Team Win (just!!)
The Netball Team played in the High Five Area 1 competition at Wilmslow High School today.
They won every game until their final game which they drew against Lacey Green Academy. Both schools finished on the same points having won the same number of games. The team won based on scoring 23 goals in the tournament against 21 goals scored by Lacey Green Academy.
They now go on to play in the area final. They are pictured with Georgie (England Netball Player)
Despite the snow, cold and frost the Year 6 played in a local hockey tournament today.
Year 6 Girls play in Independent Schools Netball Tournament
The girls played brilliantly and by the end of the competition they had won 3 matches, lost one and drawn one which left them in 3rd place. They were very proud of their achievements and showed their brilliant sporting attitudes - as you can see in the pictures.
The Rugby World Cup Squads - well maybe not just yet!!
The year 3 and 4 have been working hard over the last few weeks learning and developing their tag rugby skills. Unfortunately the Rugby World Cup is just too early for these rising stars. The children all received certificates for their achievements and two children were presented with new tag belts and rugby balls by the Sale Sharks coach.
Fun in the Snow!!
The children had lots of fun playing on the field creating everything from snowmen to snow serpents.
If it snows again - don't forget to send your children with boots and change of socks, trousers or joggers!!
No Snow Wasted
Year 5 took the opportunity to link their science curriculum to the outside environment. Do you know how to keep a snowman frozen? Ask a Year 5! Do you know where the coldest part of a snowman is? What is the difference in temperature between the shade and sunny sites on our school field? What does snow look like under a magnifying glass? What is special about the 3 states of water?
Year 5 D&T Project - create working Fair Ground rides
As you can see in the photo - this has certainly been achieved!! The models are all fully working using a cog system that transfers horizontal movement to vertical movement. The Year 5 children are budding engineers of the future!!
Year 1 get their Reward!
The Year 1 children have worked tremendously hard over the past few weeks to achieve their class reward. Well done and congratulations to the whole class for working hard and doing so well. For their reward afternoon they dressed up in their favourite costumes, had an indoor picnic and played with toys and games brought from home.
Sports Hall Athletics at Wilmslow High School
Wilmslow Chess Tournament
Thomas and Niam played in this annual local event.
They both played brilliantly within one of five groups.
Thomas won his group and will therefore be invited back to a grand final event when a champion will be crowned.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the PTA Disco
Thanks to the PTA
