Reception visit the Caribbean
8 November 2020 (by Head Admin (headteacher))
Reception children were whisked off to the Caribbean this week as they launched into their new topic using the story "Fruits- A Caribbean Counting Poem" as their stimulus
As the children arrived at school they selected a Lei to wear for the day and entered the decorated classroom listening to steel drum music! They then replicated the Caribbean art work of Kate Spencer. Later on in the day they used salt dough to create Caribbean fruits using scissors for the bumpy texture of a sweet sop fruit, as well as sorting fruits into those that come from the Caribbean and those that come from the UK. In writing they wrote lists of the new fruits we had learnt and also created repeating patterns using them in their maths. What a jam packed, fruit-astic week!
