Précis of The Collaborative Educational Trust of Wilmslow (TCET) Shadow Trust Board (STB) Meeting – 22nd June 2018

Précis of The Collaborative Educational Trust of Wilmslow (TCET) Shadow Trust Board (STB) Meeting – 22nd June 2018

The STB that was established to undertake the work required to prepare the individual schools for possible conversion to academies and to set up the TCET MAT held its most recent meeting on 22nd June 2018. We will meet once more before the schools break for the summer holidays.

The Board is working hard on finalising and progressing the individual schools’ applications to convert to academies and to form a MAT. We are working with the Chester Diocesan Board of Education and the Department for Education’s nominated Project Manager to prepare all the necessary information to support our applications. We are working towards having our applications ready for formal review in September, as we continue to work towards our original goal of having the MAT, subject to final approval by the participating schools, ready early in 2019.

We are now working with the firm of lawyers we have appointed to support us in looking at the detail of how the MAT will be governed. We have been examining the specific structures and processes that will control the Trust when established. We are also examining how we can continue to protect and enhance the individual schools’ ethos and values within the Trust through delegation of certain responsibilities and powers to Local Governing Boards. There is much work still to do on this.

Similarly, we are continuing to assess what finances will be available to the MAT and how it will manage these most effectively. We are beginning to look in some detail at what systems we currently use and whether these will allow us to manage all of the resources we will have within the MAT. Our primary objective being to ensure that the MAT delivers the best education for all its pupils with the resources it will have at its disposal.

We have agreed to continue to provide regular communications on progress to all those directly and indirectly involved with the schools as parents, staff and members of the local community. We will post regular updates both on the school and TCET websites https://sites.google.com/site/tcetwilm/
