Sum 1 2017
The Fire Brigade made it today! Year 5 learnt about making fire escape plans for their homes and how to deal with a room filled with smoke.
Stop, drop and roll were the messages of the day!
The second group of Year 3 children put on a lovely concert showing their string instrument playing skills to their parents and the rest of their peers today. It was lovely to see them perform and sing with confidence. Some were even brave enough to give a solo performance!! They certainly enjoyed their time learning! Well done to all.
Year 3 children had a fun filled time at WHS taking part in the Multiskills event. They worked hard at the ABCs of sport - Agility/Balance/Coordination and Speed. All the children who took part worked extremely hard and worked well as a team.
On Thursday 11th May, Year 3 enjoyed a fabulous Indian Cookery Demonstration courtesy of Syed and his chef from the Chutney Massala Indian takeaway on Chapel Lane in Wilmslow. The children in Year 3 have been learning all about India including traditional foods. To help to bring this topic to life, Syed treated the children to a wonderful cooking demonstration in which they experienced all of the fine flavours of a Chicken Makhani curry- a mild and creamy dish -delicious! The children greatly enjoyed learning all about safe food preparation and the spices found in Indian cooking. We even got to enjoy our very own curry outside in the sunshine! The children were also kindly given their own 'Curry-Chef' certificates and goody-bags with ingredients so they can make an Indian dish at home to enjoy too! Many thanks to Syed and his team for their time and efforts.
Year 4 and 5 took part in Bikeability Level 1 this week. Whilst enjoying glorious weather they learnt the basics of bike control and safety.
Can you guess what they've been up to? Sleeping out? Cooking pizzas outdoors in clay oven? Making more sleeping lodges (bivvies)?
Whatever they've been doing - they are having fun!!
Year 4 quickly settled in to their new environment at Forest Camp. What might have come as a shock was that had to make their own shelter before bedtime!! Let's hope they were warm and dry.
After a long hard season with limited wins the netball team pulled out all the stops to end up runners up in the Wilmslow Schools Netball Tournament.
They won 3 games and lost just one - only coming second based on goal difference.
Here are the results from the tournament...
v St Anne's 2-1 (w)
v Wilmslow Academy 1-0 (w)
v Lacey Green 1-2 (L)
v Ashdene 4-3 (w)
The team had never beaten either St Anne's or Ashdene before in the league matches.
If they had drawn with Lacey Green, which they were capable of doing, then they would have won outright!!
They played some outstanding netball and were so excited about coming second - a great way to end the season!
Mrs Clee (PE Teacher) said afterwards that they played the best I've ever seen them play.
Well done to Mrs Clee and especially to the hard work and dedication of the netball team!!
KS1 and KS2 were taught about the different aspects of how to be autism aware, by Tom from CHAPS - Cheshire Autism Practical Support.
Did you know that 1 in every 50 people has aspects of of autism?
