Look how creative we have been!

These were the stunning entries to the PTA Easter craft competition.

Choosing a final winner was really challenging but well done to Isla (Year 1) for her Easter Tree House.

Home Learning Week 2 - Getting into the routine!

End of Week 1 - Having Fun Home LEarning

We are all doing our part and working hard whilst we have to stay at home. The children have been making the most of the sunshine and are balancing exercise, fun and our jobs to make sure we keep learning.

Well done everyone - keep up the good work!

County Silver Medalists!

What a tournament! We couldn't have asked any more of our Year 6 team. coming 2nd out of 60 teams!

The children played some amazing hockey, so amazing that other schools were commenting on our skills.

The team all but one of seven games,  the opposing team only drawing by a controversial last minute equalizer ...... it was definitely outside the D!

In the final we held our own against Kings, Chester and held our nerve, only losing in the final minutes by one unfortunate goal.

Team - you can hold your heads up with pride, we are very proud of you.

Pirate Invasion - World Book Day

This year we were invaded by pirates on World Book Day! There were some very fierce and frightening pirates but luckily noone was made to walk the plank by Captain Walsh!

All the children were asked to dress as pirates to celebrate the wonderful world of books. Miss Platt led an assembly on how to talk like a pirate then each class undertook pirate related activities over the day in their lessons.

There was a lot of fun had by everyone and once again World Book Day was a great success.

Netballers have a busy day!

The year 6 netball team had a very busy afternoon, playing in both the MSSP High 5 Netball final at Wilmslow High School and then the local league matches at Wilmslow Academy. Both events involved playing 4 schools. The girls came a very creditable 3rd in the MSSP tournament. They then went on to to win 2 and lose 2 matches in the league games. Well done to all the girls who took part, they showed great teamwork, determination and fair play.

Pond up and running

We are delighted to announce that the refurbishment of the dried up clay pond situated in our woodland area has been completed. We now have a fully lined pond with a dipping platform and safety fencing.

This project was started in 2018 when we approached various charities for funds. Over the last two years we have been granted £1000 from Manchester Airport Trust, £1000 from Tesco Bags for Life following a blue coin campaign in the Alderley Edge Store and Handforth Dean store, £400 from Waitrose following the in-store green coin collection, £1,000 from a local charity with close links to the school, Beech Hall School Trust and finally £568 from the Ernest Cook Trust which was to be used specifically for educational materials.

In addition to this Alderley Edge Pre-School also donated £2,400 for the safety fencing around the pond as their kind contribution.

World Thinking Day

We were delighted to support our children who attend the Guiding movement in recognising World Thinking Day.

Girls from Guides, Brownies and Rainbows came to school in their uniforms to remind us all to think about the needs of others on this important day in the Guiding calendar.

KS1 STEMKids Club

KS1 STEM Kids club got off to a flying start last night  as the children constructed a Glider using cardboard straws, elastic bands, cut piping and card.  After decorating their gliders the children had a 'fly off'.

All involved had a lot of fun and the children are looking forward to making a Windmill, Sweetie Tower, Fidget Spinner, Slime and a Kaleidoscope over the next 5 weeks.

Year 3 Create Authentic Cave Art

Year 3 have been exploring the style of cave paintings.   Using these as inspiration, they experimented using pastels and charcoal.  They really enjoyed these art lessons and hope you enjoy looking at their creations!

Year 5 Photography Winners

Three  Year 5 girls  spent the day at Alderley Edge School for Girls as part of a photographic workshop. The girls had been invited after being selected from photographs they  sent as part of a photography competition set by the school.

They spent the day using finger lights to create pictures. They used shells to develop their own compositions and finally took inspiration from other artists to create their own light pictures on ipads.

Reading Group Gain Regional Award

The CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals are the nation's oldest and best-loved children's book awards, awarded annually by youth librarians to books for children and young people that create outstanding reading experiences through writing and illustration.

Each year children in year 5 and 6 participate in the Carnegie and Kate Greenaway book awards by forming a CKG Shadowing Group.

We are delighted that the AECPS Squirrel group have been selected as the Shadowing Champion Group for the North West region for CKG20 based on the excellent work they did promoting, participating in and celebrating the awards.
