Sum 1 2021
Having won the local competition, our year 5 and 6 boccia team completed in the regional finals for Cheshire and Warrington.
Boccia is a precision ball sport related to bowls and pétanque. The name "boccia" is derived from the Latin word for "boss" – bottia. The sport is contested at local, national and international levels and is also a Paralympic sport.
We are delighted to announce that the AEPCS have won and are now the Cheshire and Warrington Champions.
Well done team – what a fantastic achievement!
Design Technology - Engineers of the Future
In school we have all taken part in Design Technology days focusing on mechanisms. The children have designed and made objects with moving parts from moving picture books in year one to electronic vehicles in year six.
All the children have been learning about the link between design technology, maths and science focusing on levers, slides, axels, pulleys, cams and gears at the appropriate level for their age.
The children have surpassed expectations by designing amazing prototypes, making models and adjusting their designs in light of their evaluations.
Brilliant Bales Race
What a brilliant bales race!
All the children took part in this years's bales race to raise money for the PTA towards their MUGA project.
The children ran 10 laps of the course - jumping, climbing, rolling over the bales to the finish line.
They were rewarded with a well earned, delicious ice-cream.
Collectively they have raised £1000s for the PTA. What a team effort! Well done everyone and thank you PTA for organising the event.
Reception get active in maths
The Reception children had great fun as they demonstrated their maths skills. They drew their own number lines, with chalk, on the playground and then jumped 'up and down' it as they solved addition and subtraction problems together. They also worked really hard to create their own addition and subtraction numbers sentences. Well done Reception- great maths this week!
Year 4 Learn the characteristics of the animal kingdom
In science, Year 4 have been investigating how we can group different animals.
They started by sorting animals into groups according to their key features.
They then had to investigate how to make their own classification key, by thinking about what makes each group different.
This took a lot of trial and error but was very fun to create and test!
Maths WEek 2021
We do maths every day but this week is Maths week in school.
The children are learning how their maths skills are important and used in everyday life.
To kick off Maths Week year 2 had a maths lesson with a difference! The children, in teams, had to collect one piece of a number sentence. Once their team had collected all the pieces, they had to put their cards in order, so their number sentence made sense. The first group to complete their number statement is the winner!
Year 3 got Maths's week off to a great start. They were learning all about angles and went out into the playground to discover angles and learn how to make different size angles. They then went back to class to problem solve!
Year 6 got Maths week off to a productive start by comparing the colours of flags and recording their information in pie charts. They exercised their skills of tallying, circle drawing and using protractors, not to mention some arithmetic too!!
Year 6 Learn About The Heart
Year 6 got creative today, whilst learning about the parts and functions of the heart they created their own models out of play-dough.
Sporting Success - winners in 3 area competitions
Despite the pandemic and school closures AECPS had completed 'virtually' in all the local sports competitions.
We are delighted to announce that we have won 3 of the Macclesfield and Wilmslow School Sport Partnership virtual competitions- sportshall athletics, boccia and New Age Kurling!
Topping the results against local schools, AECPS are now through to the Cheshire and Warrington virtual finals in these 3 sports.
Year 3 Learn to Play String Instruments
It was with great excitement year 3 were given their instruments to learn this term. They are learning to play the violin or cello! Thechildren were shown how to store their instruments safely and handle them before they all had a go at plucking and learning the string names. There were even actions to learn too. Now they have a week to practise the plucking before they then learn how to use the bow! Good luck Year 3 and parents!!!
Year 4 Learn About Ramadan
'Year 4 are learning about Islam this half-term which is perfect timing as many Muslims around the world are observing Ramadan by fasting for a whole month.
The children discussed good deeds they could do more of and bad habits they can avoid just like many Muslims would be doing during this holy month.
They enjoyed tasting dates as it is a common way to break the fast, also known as an 'iftar''
