Alderley Edge Community Primary School

Community Links

As a Community School we aim to support both local, national and international community events throughout the year.

Harvest Service

Each year we support a different charity.  The charities we have supported recently have included Hampers of Hope, the Rotary Club's Shoe Box Appeal, a school rebuilding project in Madagascar, Seeds for Africa, Goats for Africa, the Salvation Army and many more.

Christmas

The Christmas period is always a busy time in school and we celebrate this time with a number of events including Nativity Services, singing to local residents, the orchestra play for parents here in school, we have a Hamper Raffle and we play and sing for shoppers.  Traditionally money raised during this period goes to the Children's chosen charity - Francis House Appeal.

Spring Term Events

One of the major Spring Term events is the Wilmslow Schools' Music Festival when we join with 11 local schools to sing and play to a packed audience in the Evans Theatre at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.  This two day festival sees approximately 1600 children from 4 to 11 performing together (not all at the same time!!).

Summer Term Events

We take part in the Alderley Edge Music Festival which is a competitive event where children sing, play or recite poems.  We round off the year with two massive summer concerts - one for the Foundation Stage and KS1 children (two separate plays) and one for the KS2 children.  These have taken many forms from productions like Oliver and the Lion King to individual class performances such as the Three Little Pigs.  The Summer Term finishes with a very poignant Leavers' Service held in St Philip and St James Church.

As well as putting something back in to the community we are also very well supported by the community too.  We gain in so many ways including...

- Waitrose green token appeals
- Tesco Voucher Scheme
- Sainsbury Voucher Scheme
- Support from local businesses and restaurants including Gusto Restaurant, local supermarkets, RBS, AstraZeneca and Barclays

The list above does not contain everyone's details and if you have offered help and support to our school and you are not listed then please let us know so we can rectify the situation. However, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you!!

If you are a local business and feel that you can support school in some way then please do not hesitate to contact school too.
