Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday celebration at AECPS
Dear Parents and Carers,
On Friday 8th May, we will be marking a very special occasion at school: Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. As a lifelong champion of the natural world, his work inspires us to care for our planet and the life upon it, and we are looking forward to celebrating this milestone together.
To link with Sir David’s message of environmental responsibility, we would like the day to be a Car-Less Day where possible. We encourage children and families to walk, cycle or use public transport if they can. If using a car is necessary (which we completely understand), we kindly suggest car sharing where possible to help reduce emissions.
Throughout the day, children will be involved in a range of special activities, including:
• Creating artwork for a “100 Species Wall”, with each child representing a different plant or animal.
• Planting a tree in honour of Sir David Attenborough’s birthday.
• Taking part in a live assembly celebrating his life, achievements, and commitment to protecting our planet.
We are very much looking forward to a meaningful and inspiring day that celebrates both Sir David Attenborough’s incredible legacy and the importance of caring for our environment.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Miss Hibbert
Geography Subject Lead
