Right to Withdraw from Religious Education

At Alderley Edge Community Primary School, we are proud to offer an inclusive Religious Education (RE) curriculum that promotes cultural diversity, critical thinking, and respect for all beliefs and worldviews.

However, under the Education Act 1996, we fully respect the legal right of parents and carers to withdraw their children from all or part of Religious Education lessons and collective worship.

If you wish to exercise this right, we ask that you contact the Headteacher directly to arrange a brief, informal discussion. This is simply to ensure you are fully aware of what is covered in the RE curriculum and to discuss appropriate, supervised alternative arrangements for your child during these lessons. No explanation or justification for your decision is required
