Alderley Edge Community Primary School

SPORTS WEEK 2026

Dear Parents,

The week commencing Monday 15th June marks the beginning of National School Sports Week, and we have a wide range of exciting sporting activities planned for children across the whole school.
Sports Week at AECPS is always a highlight of the school calendar and provides a unique opportunity for children to experience activities that are not readily available in most primary schools. Throughout their time at AECPS, children take part in a fantastic 7-year programme of events, including Bubble Football, Golf, BMXing, Lacrosse, Cheerleading, Fencing, Football with Macclesfield Town, and much more. We also use the opportunity visit many of the local sports clubs including Alderley Edge Hockey Club, Tennis Clubs and Alderley Edge Cricket Club.
Most activities are covered under the Local Visits permission you have already completed for your child. Any visits requiring coach travel will be communicated separately via an additional letter sent to the individual year groups affected.
We would like to share some important reminders to help ensure that all children are fully prepared for the week’s busy schedule.
Helpful Hints
Please ensure your child has the following each day:
•    PE kit – Whilst every effort should be made to wear the correct school PE kit, we appreciate that needing kit for five days rather than the usual two can be challenging. If full PE kit is not available, please ensure children wear navy or other dark-coloured sports clothing.
•    Trainers or sports shoes – Please avoid laces for younger children or for those who are unable to tie them independently.
•    A full water bottle – This should contain water only.
•    Sun cream – Please apply before school and provide a sunhat or cap on warmer days.
•    A raincoat – Please send one every day, as we never know what the weather may bring.
Sports Day
Please also note that Sports Day will take place on Tuesday 16th June 2026.
•    KS2 Sports Day: 9:15am – approximately 12:00 noon
•    KS1 Sports Day: 1:30pm – approximately 3:00pm
Children should come to school wearing their PE kit and may also wear a coloured T-shirt (optional) to represent their school house team.
If you are unsure which colour T-shirt your child should wear, please contact your child’s class teacher.
Financial Contributions
We greatly appreciate the continued support from parents during Sports Week. Due to increasing costs, the PTA have kindly offered to contribute towards the overall cost of the week, helping to keep this fun-packed and exciting experience affordable for all families.
However, we still require additional parental contributions. If you are able to contribute, we kindly ask that payments are made as soon as possible. The success of this year’s Sports Week helps determine the number and range of activities we are able to offer in future years, as all costs must be fully covered in order for us to continue providing these experiences.
This year, the cost per child is £11.00.
Please note: You will receive your payment link for this trip via School Money email system later today.
Helpers
The safety of all children is our highest priority, and off-site visits cannot take place without the support of additional volunteers to help us meet health and safety requirements.
Individual class teachers will be contacting parents to request support for their class off-site visits. If you are able to help, please do volunteer where possible, as without sufficient support we may unfortunately need to cancel visits for individual classes.
Finally, a huge thank you to Miss Lewis for all of her hard work in organising the week and to all staff for delivering and supporting activities, coordinating volunteers to walk children to events, administration and liaising with the fantastic sports companies providing sessions throughout the week.
We cannot wait to share all of the wonderful opportunities the children experience during Sports Week — please keep an eye on the school website for updates throughout the week.
Kind Regards
AECPS
