Reception’s Inspiring Trip to the Whitworth Art Gallery
Reception had a wonderfully creative day at the Whitworth Art Gallery, packed with hands‑on art, exploration and imagination. The children tried their hand at etching and sculpting trees, then worked together to create a stunning whole‑class leaf collage. They also learned about “The Great Wave” by the Japanese artist Hokusai and sketched their own landscapes inspired by Japan’s dramatic scenery.
One of the highlights of the day was an exciting art hunt around the gallery, where the children searched for hidden details tucked away in sculptures, tapestries and paintings. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were incredible to see!
It was such a busy, exciting and exhausting adventure that more than a few children fell fast asleep on the coach journey home!
