During our whole school focus of science in stories using the text Rapunzal, Year 6 investigated how different technologies can be used for communication. The children decided that a quick and efficient way to get a message to and from Rapunzal was to use the signalling system called 'Semaphore'. The 'Semaphore' flag signalling system is an alphabet signalling system based on the waving of a pair of hand-held flags in a particular pattern. The children made their own flags and then learnt some of the signals before going outside to send messages across the playground.

Reception Enjoy Maths, by Alderley Edge Community Primary School
Date: 23rd Nov 2021 @ 10:46am
In Reception the children have been comparing and ordering items according to their size. They were sent on a hunt around the classroom for different items to put in size order. The children also looked at grouping and sorting items according to different criteria using buttons of different sizes, colours and with a different number of holes. This was a great way for children to develop and apply their mathematical thinking and observational skills.
